Market share gains: "Check this out. New study says we've got 6.38% market share. That's up 2 points in the past six months. Watch out, Gateway! And take that, SEC and US Attorney's office! Better yet, says here that 9,000 people a day switch from Windows to Mac. Nice."

NetApplications is measuring web usage, the company has a network of 40,000 affiliated sites. This is always good to see an increase but I wouldn't read too much into these numbers. Mac and PC quarterly shipments are more reliable. Speaking of that, Apple is already selling more than Gateway on a worldwide basis.
Gateway sold 3.530 million PCs in calendar 2004, 4.476 million in 2005 and 5.013 million in 2006. (annual report for the period ending 12/31/2006)
Apple sold 3.507 million Macs in calendar 2004, 4.742 million in 2005 and 5.655 million in 2006. (Apple's SEC filings)
Gateway is still ahead in the United States because the company is concentrating on the U.S. market, but Mac sales are increasing faster and Apple should pass Gateway soon enough.
